World War II Firearms

World War II represents the defining conflict of the 20th Century.  Every country involved in the conflict produced their own rifles which essentially represented the individual soldiers fighting for their cause.  Photos abound in the history books of these young men facing down their enemies.

From Americans storming beaches in both the Pacific theatre and the invasions of Europe. Young British, Australian and Canadians facing the inevitable at Dunkirk or squaring off against Rommel in Norh Africa to the Russian peasant soldier defending the Motherland and then marching on to Berlin. Young German Wehrmacht troops are often pictured with their K98′s jubilantly conquering France followed by the photos a few years later with the forlorn look of defeat at Stalingrad and later Berlin.

For many of us these rifles are relics and remembrances of our now gone fathers and grandfathers and their great conflict that helps to define who we are now.  As the Greatest Generation went home from the war they left behind their rifles.  Many were already obsolete by 1945 and they would be refurbished and stored to become the source of arms for the many conflicts of the Cold War.  The upkeep and care of these arms did not remain a priority. As newer models of military arms became available these WWII relics were often used for training purposes and finally stored (often poorly) pending some final disposition.  Many of these rifles have been imported into the U.S. for the collector market.  Decades of use and abuse, corrosive ammunition and apathy have left their mark on these once fine rifles.  We view our job as restorers to return these historical artifacts to as near their original condition as possible.

We hand select the models for restoration.  Any sign of serious corrosion will cause us to reject the rifle for restoration.  We either replace the stocks with new wood or wherever possible hand refinish the original stock.  Broken or worn parts are replaced and the metal components are all refinished with the correct finish as issued.

We offer complete refinishing services for your M1 Garand or M1 Carbine, please click on the SERVICES OFFERED page for more details.
